Strontium carbonate supplies SrO.
The main source of strontium in glazes. Can sometimes replace
Barium carbonate in glazes (75% as much strontium as there was
barium, by weight), in order to decrease toxicity. Has also been
investigated as a replacement for calcium, zinc, and lead
[Parmelee].
Strontium carbonate may originate from the mineral Strontianite
(SrCO3), but more often is refined from Celestite (SrSO4).
